Jude Moses – “Kokoro”-The number of times that I’ve accepted a track with a discordant opening is very, very small. So when I do it’s because something spectacular follows the distortion. I can safely say that the harmonies on this track are truly …
Three folk singer songwriters you should put on your weekend playlist
Jon Bell – “Who we want to be”-Sometimes I run across a song that’s so good I don’t even want to write about it; I just want to shut up and listen. Jon Bell’s “Who we want to be” is one of those …
The Dandys Make a Gem out of “Lemons”
The Dandys – “Lemons” A song about a low point in the artist’s mental health, “Lemons” captures the mania that can follow. The sound is dizzying at times, but provides an anthemic arena rock sing-a-long. The Dandys are able to take an all …
Three tracks that fuse folk and rock together quite nicely
Laney Jones – “Not alone”-If you had the privilege of growing up around musical people, then you’ll know what it’s like to throw together a performance. You have this person on guitar, another on percussion, and so on… with seemingly no limit on …

Stephanie Hatzinikolis – “Runnin’ to You” We loved this track from the first beautiful note. Her piano style on “Runnin’ to You” carries the track but it is her songwriting that breaks our collective hearts. The track carries a hopeful spirit, written to …

Jacksonport – “Boundless love” (John Prine cover)-If you follow us on Twitter, you already know that I love this track. In fact, I’ll probably be spinning it almost non-stop for the near future. The combination of one of my current favorite folk artists …

Deathcruiser and Lydia Luce – “Life number two”-There’s just not enough waltz time in the world, so I was really glad to find it in this track from Deathcruiser and Lydia Luce. It feels like a brilliant blending of the past and present. …
