Three exciting new rock tracks that bring a wide range of different styles to the genre

Lyncs – “I burned my diary last night”
-I’ve become a big fan of indie pop in the past five or so years and Lyncs captures the sound in this subgenre that I really appreciate. There’s an energy to the track that feels like it keeps rising throughout the song. The dynamic vocal style matches the intensity of the rocking backing elements. This is music that is meant to be played loud. Maybe it’s just because there’s been a lot of Taylor Swift in my home lately, but I definitely hear some T-Swift in this style. The emotional lyrics balance well with the energetic rock style. This one has hit potential!

SUNBURNT – “Built For This”
-When I tell people I like pop rock, this is the sound I’m talking about. SUNBURNT have that soaring pop punk vocal that absolutely wins over the track. The first thing I did after approving the track was share it with about five of my friends… almost all of which I knew 20 years ago when pop punk was at its apogee. It’s nice to hear that people are still making music like this. Fans of Sum41 and Good Charlotte style pop punk are going to find a lot to like on this one.

The Ohio Hopefuls – “Sidewalk Chalk”
-There’s a dynamic energy to this track that is evident from first listen. I’m not sure that you’d call it a descant in punk music, but the high harmonies really work well on this track. It captures a lot of the emo energy that was laced through punk music in the early 2000s. The expressive and emotionally charged lyrics remind me of bands like Jimmy Eat World from a few decades ago. Fans of a certain age (i.e. late 30s and early 40s) are going to hear a whole lot of memories in this sound. The lyrics focus on the importance of saying what you mean before the moment passes; this is good advice.
