Glenn Thomas – “Black Muddy River” (Grateful Dead Cover)
We were absolutely blown away by this one. From the intimate vocals, to the classic instrumentation, “Black Muddy River” is a representation of the best of us. After garnering praise from the likes of Rolling Stone and Billboard, and touring with Blitzen Trapper and Langhorne Slim, Glenn Thomas is ready for a breakout year. Honestly, the presence of his artful songwriting is a sign of grace in this troubled year.
Somebody’s Child – “TV Screens”
This one has a fun bounce to it we cannot get enough of. Instrumentally, it is carried from a guitar part that is impressive, but the vocals offer the clincher for us. Strained and resolute, they come across with urgency and earnestness. The result is one of our favorite new tracks from the Dublin songwriter. This would be a gem in any year, but it is especially welcomed in 2020.
Sugaray Rayford – “Homemade Disaster”
From the first soulful second of this one, we could not wait to share it with our audience. Taking cues from the late Charles Bradley, Rayford builds a larger than life sound that will resonate with many. Mixing roots, funk, and countless other genres, the artist has proven over his career, to be a hard working, talented, and dynamic craftsman worthy of the praise and accolades he has received. We love “Homemade Disaster” and cannot wait to hear more.
