Three new tracks in the Americana and alt country space

Abby Webster – “BBQ Chips”
-Just like BBQ chips, this song puts a smile on my face as soon as I click play. The banjo work here is worth the price of admission. Then the vocal starts and it’s all the more classic feeling. This is a great tune that will make listeners feel like they’re connected with the past and present all at once. It’s an easy going style with clever lyrics, “like barbeque chips it’s hard to resist.” It’s definitely worth a spin for folks that appreciate a timeless bluegrass style.

Admiral Radio – “Love You Somehow”
-The contemplative piano work on this song definitely sets the stage for a thoughtful delivery. The lead vocal goes right in with some deep, personal lyrics. Once the harmony vocal enters, the song goes from good to great with a real sense of intimacy. “I try to show you… I still love you somehow.” It’s a beautiful expression of what it takes to love someone even after a separation. It’s rare to find a pair of voices that are both as quality as these two. Fair warning, this is an intensely emotional song for anyone who has experienced separation or divorce. Still… it’s gorgeous.

Honey On Our Tongues – “Golden Field”
-If the name of this band looks familiar, it’s because I recently featured the album for “Golden Field.” This is a style of Americana that has a deep connection to tradition. I appreciate the quality of the guitar and the banjo, especially. I’ve always been a fan of this type of songwriting that feels like it connects backward in time to the roots of what made us who we are. As I’ve written before, listening to this music feels like sitting on the porch back home. It makes me a miss some folks that aren’t around anymore, and for that I’d like to thank this band for keeping the music alive.
