Luke De-Sciscio – “Clever Ghost”
“Clever Ghost” is one of our favorite songs in the new year. It is beautiful, not unlike a lot of folk troubadour Luke De-Sciscio’s work. There is a gentle sway here, only crafted by an artist of a wiser caliber. The mature folk songwriting is absolutely heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure. De-Sciscio continues to be one of the top singer songwriters alive today. With tracks like “Clever Ghost”, he proves it yet again.
Powli – “Fingertips”
The young Berlin based songwriter has a way to craft catchy indie pop tracks that are completely haunting. Her vocal delivery allures as much as it soothes with soulful bars. The sound is not fully what we tend to cover, yet there is some sort of pop magic displayed here. To the careful listener, many instruments and sounds used are incredibly unique and refreshingly unexpected. “Fingertips” is, well, fun, which is incredibly welcome in the age we live currently. Do not sleep on this act.
Snailosaur – “Apartment Boxes (nyc poem)”
You do not have to look much farther than Brooklyn’s own Snailosaur to find the spirit of Lou Reed. The king of New York cool, Reed is found in the poetry of this track which is a mature exploration of life and living. The duo have a detached but relatable sound that we cannot get enough of. There are shades of ’70’s rock, mixed with post punk at the highest level. While tough to classify, one thing that is certain, is the unmatched beauty and talent of this young act.
