Three fantastic new indie folk tunes for fans of this timeless genre

Josh Brough – “Silver and Gold”
-This is a thoughtful, contemplative acoustic track that is sure to find a following among our readership. One of the things I love most about the song is that it takes its time to develop. The opening has solo guitar, but later a piano adds depth and sophistication to the recording. The strings combine well with the vocal to create a cathartic, almost hypnotic effect. Fans of acoustic singer songwriters will definitely enjoy this beautiful track.

Reagan Beem – “Dancing Round My Problems”
-I really appreciate the depth of this song. It’s got an expressive lyrical style that’s sure to stand out for a lot of folks. The lyrics make the listener engage with our own mental health concerns. The melody unfolds like a pop song, but it holds a much deeper and more sophisticated root than most top 40. If you’ve ever felt like you let people down due to just being yourself, this song will be like a little musical therapy session. It’s a beautiful song that deserves to be heard by EVERYONE. Seriously, share it with your friends. Share it with your therapist. Tell your therapist to share it with their friends.

Tim Abend – “Should’ve Been Us”
-There’s a calming sense about the acoustic guitar that makes the song stand out right away. “No fruit is forbidden as long as you keep it hidden” is one of my favorite lines I’ve heard this year. It’s a bit of a sensual energy to the song. The lyrics allude to a romance that could have been. It feels in some ways like a heartache song yet also reveals a bit of hope of the future. It’s a beautiful, engaging bit of songwriting that transitions from acoustic to a bit more electronic in the second half. It works.
