Luke Sital-Singh – “Til the Day I Die”
-If you’ve been around EarToTheGround for any length of time, you will be familiar with Luke Sital-Singh’s name. He’s an artist who gets approvals from both of the editors. This latest track is easy to hear why he’s a site favorite; the talent is evident. The almost prayerlike sincerity of the track expresses a contemplative, peaceful sentiment. It’s about devotion and love, rooted with core musical components of an acoustic guitar and absolutely stunning harmonies. There’s a fascinating finality in the end of the track that leaves me wanting more… not just of the music, but the heart of the song. I want to reach through the headphones and give the songwriter a hug. But, hey, that’s probably just me. Give it a listen and see what you think.
Go by Ocean – “Ascending Ghosts”
-Horns. Guitars. An unhurried melody. By the time the song gets to the lead vocal, I already like it. Then the lead vocal has this sweet, approachable quality to it that makes it really work. There’s a Fleet Foxes quality to this sound that I absolutely love. The rhythm changes a bit to something that feels a bit more danceable. The shifting energy of the track reminds me in some ways of mid-60s experimental artful pop rock, yet it feels like one of those songs that is very much self aware. It exists in its complexity without trying to refer to any other music. It’s satisfyingly artful and I would venture to guess you’ve never heard anything quite like it.
jake. – “Weight of it all”
-The rhythm of this song captures a sense of momentum, which is good because it’s about moving forward despite the weight and burdens of life. The song does a great job of shifting between acoustic folk and more of a rock-based electric guitar sound. The lead vocal has a strong presence that cuts through rock instrumentation. The unique blending of folk and rock elements is sure to find a following among our readers. Give it a shot.
