John Griffin McKay – “Cooler Now”
We love the Arctic Monkeys style rock here. McKay thrives with clever lyrics and Beatles style instrumentation. The Memphis based artist shows his hard-fought talent and creativity on “Cooler Now”, which we believe is a near perfect summer track. It is both introspective and carefree, a necessary tandem when putting together those warm summer month playlists. We really dig this artist and his heart for music. Do not sleep on him.
Belle Mt. – “Awake”
The piano intro here is absolutely heartbreaking. The track builds like a Coldplay ballad, but still maintains a folk rock base. The bass carries on the later half before finding a creative drum part that shifts the tracks direction. “Awake” is everything listeners could want from a meaningful work of art. It is lively, emotive, and hopeful.
blondfire – “Age of Innocence” (Acoustic)
“Age of Innocence” has been one of our favorite tracks since we heard the original a few months back. The acoustic version shows just how talented the act are and their uncanny ability to hold listeners attention. It proves a great track can be reworked dramatically and still somehow connect. Of course, if you have the vocals and songwriting blondfire do, it is easy. The young act are due for a continued rise and should find their way on many a summer playlists.
