Matthew and the Arrogant Sea – “Santa Isn’t Happy Baby”
We can definitely get behind this Texas rock act. The band has decided to gift the ACLU with proceeds from this holiday original. With this spirit of giving, the act won our support. The track has a cool original vibe while being culturally relevant to our present moment. Even with this, it is clear the band are having fun. It is rare to see a band like this – the perfect mix of talent and conscience.
ØZWALD – “Mele Kalikimaka”
This is not a typical Christmas song but again, this is not a typical act. The ambitious and site favorite act have had as busy a year as Santa. For this cover, the act tap into their psych infused rock pop to great effect. This is not necessarily something we would expect from Mr. Bing Crosby, but this is a rare present indeed. We appreciate their creativity as well as their prolific release schedule.
EZ Boys – “Becoming a Santa Claus”
This original holiday rocker has a perfect amount of cheesy, nostalgia, and pop punk energy. The storytelling is reminiscent of some of our favorite late ’90’s acts, while still standing out in a flooded holiday field. It is also very catchy and is sure to be bouncing around in your head for quite awhile after the first listen. This shows a talent for song building as well as holiday cheer to spare.
