Creature of Doom – “Dead Ringer”
Sound wise, this is an exciting and emotive piece perfect for the Fall season. When the track really picks up, it becomes a beautiful mix of electronic goodness. Creature of Doom surely have some incredible influences listeners will surely pick up on. We thought of Nine Inch Nails if not completely comparable in sound, then at least in their earnest craftsmanship. There is a palpable sense of cool from “Dead Ringer” that grows on you and won’t let go. Listeners will want to live in their groove, and we suggest a few listens to truly appreciate their articulate space.
Elephant – “Calling”
This one has a Southern California chill to it. Of course, the act are from the Netherlands, but still, their ability to cross borders and genre is universal. On “Calling”, the act shine with indie rock goodness and golden shared vocals. It is a resilient track with a killer sound that speaks of a great band chemistry and ambition. The band describe their sound as “sunny melancholy”, which is a great descriptor, yet there is an endearing hope found within it that we especially appreciate. Elephant are a gem of an act who we look forward to hearing more from.
Deadletter – “Pop Culture Connoisseur”
Part of our duty as music writers, is to unabashedly present listeners some truly creative and explosive tracks. Regardless of style or taste, we like what we like and we share music that hopefully engages and expands the common musical palette. Case in point, Deadletter. Undoubtedly, there are some acts like IDLES and Viagra Boys who share this space, yet, this act has a little more bounce to them. We love the sound and all its quirks, while the vocal delivery is cocksure. We feel like if Queens of the Stone Age where to begin their musical careers in 2021, they may sound a little like Deadletter. Happy listening, this one is as fun as it is inventive.
