Three indie rock jams to get the Autumn season off to a good start

Odd Opal – “Urban countryside”
-There’s a really intriguing stylistic blend to this track; it’s got a classic rock meets folk rock feeling to it. In that regard, it’s a perfect fit for the sound that ETTG tends to feature. The chilled out electric guitars and rich harmonies are quite welcome for us. The relaxed, timeless lyrical vibe works well for the track. This is a total package of a chilled out, easy going folk rock jam.

Jackson+Sellers – “Hush”
-The chilled out energy of this track might make it seem like folk more so than rock, but if you stick with the track there’s an evident rock vibe to it as well. The electric guitars provide a beautiful basis for the poetic lyricism of the lead vocalist. The comparison that pops into my mind most often with the sound is the Civil Wars more so than a typical rock act; that said, the haunting vibes and quality moving rock core of the track put it in a unique folk-influenced rock category. The lullaby lyrics and gorgeous harmonies are the icing on the cake here.

Suzanne Santo – “Mercy”
-Everything about this track is well done. The lead vocal is extremely talented, obviously, but the production and sonic balance here is really well done. I can’t help but make the comparison with someone like Sheryl Crow here. There’s a powerful pop vibe that mixes with some genuine rock bona fides. The combination in the sound drives the blues rock lyrical message home quite well. Throw this on your rock playlist and enjoy the chill this season.
