Sarpa Salpa – “Casanova”
We expect big things from this indie pop four-piece. Their ability to craft tight, catchy as hell tunes is in peak form on their new single “Casanova”. From the beginning, their sound is captivating and red-hot, taking no time for listeners to warm up to. Lyrically it touches on romance and the search for completion through others. Frontman Marcus Marooth explains: “people will chase the perfect love that doesn’t exist”. We don’t often dance and fully engage with the countless tracks we come across, but this one had us from the first glorious second. It should be a big year for the Northampton group.
High Tropics – “Feel The Same”
After releasing a few songs that grew a sizable fanbase in ’18, these Aussie rockers are ready for a breakout 2019. For “Feel The Same”, the band worked with producer Elliot Heinrich and Brian Lucey, who mastered the track, has an impressive resume with like minded acts Cage the Elephant and Liam Gallagher. The track is a tight piece of well crafted indie pop that dips into garage rock for good measure. We were immediately reminded of Mainland when we heard there clever lyricism and bright guitar tones. Amassing over a half million streams on a few tracks, the band is set to continue with the momentum gained and are sure to gain deserved notice in the following year. This is a band on the come up for sure.
