We need to talk about California rockers Madus. While many have lamented the current state of rock and roll, these guys are carrying the torch forward in a non pretentious, and loud, way. Armed with killer drum echoes, guitar crunch, and classic rock vocals, the band is increasingly gaining exposure as a legitimately talented rock act.
Forming in 2009, the band met on an “online dating website for musicians,” drummer Sam Sobo explains. “It was love at first note,”. Madus carry a classic rock ethos with a mixture of contemporary acts like Royal Blood and Arctic Monkeys, and while exceptionally talented, their ability to not take themselves too seriously is refreshing and perhaps the reason why their fanbase is continuing to grow.
Their latest single, “Hey You”, is a guilty pleasure of garage rock goodness. This might be their most accessible hit and a step towards continued maturation sonically speaking. The end result is one of our favorite new tracks in the budding new year. The act also released “Enjoy the Night” which is a Raconteurs style burning rock track.
