3 Terrific Young Songwriters

Greg Etter – “On My Way”

There is a certain unmistakable quality to the music of Greg Etter. We were immediately reminded of artists like David Ramirez when we heard “On My Way”. His deliberate pace shows a mature artist hitting his stride, while layering to a magnificent build. This is a folk tinged ballad that definitely peaks our interest for his newly minted EP. When we think of up and coming singer songwriters, we would be hard pressed to find a more qualified artist who embodies that title.

mxmtoon – “Porcelain”

In a year of great female songwriters, mxmtoon fits right in. Her beautiful arrangement and engaging vocals crackle on point with many of the names that broke through in 2018. Being only 18, she brings a maturity that is beyond her experience in the industry. Her uke and spirit are what set her apart and will grab the attention of many in the following year. “Porcelain” is a lovely and intentional track that continues to be on heavy rotation for our staff.

Gabrielle Aplin – “My Mistake”

Aplin is one of our favorites for obvious reasons. Fresh off a new record deal, this artist has a developed piano folk pop sound that will resonate with many. Her vocals change throughout the track in ways that showcase both her vulnerability, and strength. She has intentionally crafted a great rally cry for anyone feeling less than. “I’m really excited to release My Mistake. I’ve always found writing a therapeutic escape from real life,” shares the artist. “This song gently forced me to be brutally honest. This is a song about finding a strange sense of comfort in admitting to yourself that you’re not feeling 100% and completely owning it.”
