Emily James – “Lion’s Den”
We cannot get enough of this pop heavy track. James’ ability to connect with a larger audience than what you would expect for her sound, is incredible given her youth. This track has definite shades of more established artist sensations like Taylor Swift, yet has a raw songwriting feel we appreciate greatly. Working with those who have varied musical backgrounds, her debut Til The Morning, is sure to win fans over from the folk pop and even indie crowd. The video for the track is simple but engaging and perfectly showcases the songwriter in her element.
Jean – “Running on Empty” (acoustic)
This LA songwriter has an incredible voice. Her folk country style dips both into country and city living and makes for a varied sound that is refreshingly original. Her bio tells us that she has been performing since age 6, and you can definitely tell. Her restraint and ability to connect with listeners are talents she crafted through the years and is set to carve out a much-deserved place among the heavy hitters in the musical space. Watch for her to release more tracks in ’18 as she continues to hone her craft.
Kastrup – “You And I”
The Swedish electro pop outfit Kastrup has a knack for building melodic and swelling cinematic jams. We think you’ll agree with us, that their sound is grand and expansive while begging for grand sing-alongs a la Jacks Mannequin. This single gives us a taste of the upcoming EP that should be well received by audiences worldwide. Instrumentally they build a soul lifting crescendo that plays off the lead vocals extraordinarily. They seem to have figured out a formula for making great artfully done rock.
Jimmy Nash – “One Night in Brooklyn”
You will hear the Ed Sheeran vibe on this one, yet it has a fresh American appeal. A career musician, Nash was able to pull together some major producers for his new music and it shows. His sound has grander plans than coffee shops and bars. It is also cool to note his involvement with the charitable organization “Champions Kids Camp” which is dedicated to the nurturing of children who have survived a traumatic injury, illness, or loss. We can definitely get behind causes like that and support artists with a similar heart. This track is a straightforward heartstring plucking jam we think you will like as much as the artist himself.
