Lindsey Harper may not be a household name quite yet, but her impact on culture goes beyond mere name recognition. She has sharpened her craft as the backup singer for Selena Gomez and even contributed on her When The Sun Goes Down album. On her own, she has contributed to television shows and commercials, and with her new single, she is due for a well-earned breakout moment. “Electricity” is fully described in the name. Her soulful vocals remind us of site favorite Lake Street Dive while beautifully walking the line between genres. We appreciate her sound because of its genuine and sometimes raw sound. She relies on her talent to carry the track forward and is an artist that seemingly needs nothing else in way of production to assist her immense talent. She is endearing and very relatable regardless of who her famous friends are. On the new track, Harper explains, “I fell for someone awhile back, and I just felt this electricity between us. I wasn’t sure if it was really going to go anywhere—I felt helpless like a silly schoolgirl—but I pursued that electric feeling.” I think we all can relate to her everyday approach to crafting authentic tracks.
