I have to be honest; I am insanely partial to musicians with ties to Ohio. I get it, I am bias but there is a certain flavor of the sound influenced by lake effect snow and years of athletic heartbreak. But when I saw Nashville based rock act Mona open up for Awolnation this summer, they won me over with their tight sound and lively stage presence. Of course the fact vocalist Nick Brown has a super cool custom guitar complete with a vintage Ohio license plate doesn’t hurt.
Recently the boys released a stellar EP In the Middle and today we want to share the new video from their title track. They truly have a sound that transcends time. Not quite progressive or new and not quite vintage, the guys found a way to make a sound that is as much refreshing as it is familiar. It is authentically their own. In one moment, they sound like they could open for Buddy Holly, and with the next strum sound like a Kings of Leon tourmate. They have a talent for crafting rock anthems, which will make you dance and sing out – both are a must for great rock acts. Currently on tour with July Talk, the group are sold out for their craft: “very few things matter in this world, and we think music is one of them” explains Brown. One listen is sure to win you over to their energetic, confident, and relatable sound.
“In the Middle” has gotten a lot of radio play recently as the band sets out to make a impact on the rock scene of 2017. Check out the video for the track below, and while you’re at it, check them out on tour.
