And now for something completely different. How can you not totally dig a band that has a song (and a damned good one) named “The Black Jack White” in their catalog? Brooklyn’s Spirit Animal are beautifully creative, groovy, and more than anything incredibly fun. Landing somewhere between Outkast and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the guys have expanded their sound for their new album World War IV which drops October 30th. “It’s like, much bigger” says lead singer and walking hype machine Steve Cooper. “Everything that was wild is more wild. Everything that was heavy is heavier. It’s always supposed to feel good. It’s always moving towards euphoria.” We here at Ear to the Ground can totally get behind that form of musical expression. These guys have the creative energy of Awolnation mixed with the funk soul of James Brown. We are brimming with expectancy for the release of their album, but you don’t have to wait any longer to hear what all the rage is about. The guys have shared with us their new single “Regular World”. The track showcases both the grind of daily life as well as all the things the band does so well. Thundering bass and sing along “Ohhh’s”, all mixed with irregular vocal explosions make for one killer tune. Check it out below and hold your collective breath for what is to surely be an awesome release.
