Abel Raise The Cain – For Strangers Only – Atmospheric rock with purpose

There is a certain unmistakable feeling that hits me when I listen to Abel Raise The Cain. It is something that surpasses the limits of sight, sound, and slightly above average music reviews. It is a feeling of “me too” in the midst of great struggle and doubt. The feeling of knowing there are people with you in the dark shadows of life. The seven member UK band creates music that is epic, experimental, and strangely optimistic. It is everything that makes rock great. Formed in 2012, the group is ready to release their first EP July 27th entitled For Strangers Only. While their sound shares a genre with the likes of Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, and Coldplay, the play with freshness and energy that is purely their own.

“Black Swans” is the extremely infectious first single of the new EP. Lead singer Sean Crichton goes from deep whispers to urgent pleas against loneliness over echoing guitars. It is a great heartbreak tune whose hope shines throughout the orchestral ballad. The band reminds us that “You can not be alone, you will not stand alone” with a brilliant arrangement. This declaration will endear the band to even the most hardened of listeners.
