Three new folk tunes that are sure to capture your attention

Lorcan Nelson – “Easy Love”
-If chill acoustic music is what you’re looking for, definitely check out this track from Lorcan Nelson. One of my favorite things about being a music blogger is getting music sent to us from all over the world. The Irish songwriter Lorcan Nelson brings his unique accent to a wonderful, delicate, emotionally laden piece of songwriting. It’s about being in the type of love where you don’t have to try too hard… it just flows and feels comfortable. It’s a love song about not analyzing too much, just enjoying where you are and what you’re experiencing. If you’re lucky enough to have easy love in your life, definitely share this one.

Kimberly Walsh – “Spring Clover”
-Shhh. Just listen. (I’ve been told this is not a sufficient review.) Ok, fine. Aside from just being quiet and listening to this gorgeous piece of music, I have to say that the thing that makes it (most) special is the vocal. Walsh has a purity and grace in her vocal style that is almost otherworldly. Yet the song itself has this delightful grounded nature to it, so the juxtaposition between the soaring beauty of the vocal and the rooted lyrics work together perfectly. Walsh has one of the prettiest voices I’ve found in recent years, but beyond that the song resonates with this peaceful sincerity that creeps into my soul and the hope that I long for in eternity.

The Chickpeas Band – “Mother”
-I’ll give you three guesses what the lyrics are about on this song… (hehe). Ok, right, it’s a song about a mother. It’s not just rainbows and roses, though. This is about the strong mothers that establish legacy in families. It’s about the women who are the ROCK of their family, who hold it all together. I’m fortunate to be the son of one of these strong women and married to one. They are the lifeblood of our existence, so it’s great to hear a folk song devoted to them. The rich vocal harmonies on this recording are also deeply rewarding. This is a great vocal performance that highlights a rich lyrical theme. It’s a gem.
