Judah and the Lion – “Gravel Roads”
-To be honest, Judah and the Lion are one of those bands that make me pinch myself. You mean they want US to write about their music? Crazy. I have been writing about this band for years. I was so glad to see this track in my list, but within seconds I was convinced it was a fit. It’s got a great combination of the early 2000s folk revival (i.e. Mumford and Sons) alongside this heavy bass in some places that really fill the song out. The lyrical message is 100% Americana, relatable at every turn for the “salt of the earth” types. This is almost anthemic for the America 250 summer. The choral work on the bridge is rewarding and really fun to sing along. I would challenge each and every one of you to put this on your summer barbeque playlist. It’s got so much energy!
