Lainey Seitz – “Wish You Did”
-If you’re a fan of atmospheric indie pop with a quality lead vocal, definitely check out this new track from Lainey Seitz. There’s an air of ethereal vibes that permeate the track. The lyrics are meaningful without feeling overwhelming. It’s a song that builds a moment, a feeling, as you listen through the track. It’s based on a lyrical concept of a wish, a hope for a relationship that might work out. There’s a spiritual and personal element to the track that makes it feel intimate in a really powerful way. It’s the kind of music that will resonate with fans of artists like Billie Eilish or even Maggie Rogers; there’s a lot to like here and I think our indie pop followers are going to adore this one.
alayna – “Softly”
-I’m not always one to approve R&B based pop music, but this one from alayna really stands out from the crowd. The vocal is outstanding. The mood of the track feels like it keeps low to the ground in the opening, but then evolves into a colorful and rewarding groove. The arpeggio on the keys (sounds almost like a harp) creates a gorgeous atmospheric effect. This is what I mean when I tell people that I appreciate genre-bending music. The vocal runs… the mood… it’s all so good. The lyrics have a delicate, spiritual connotation to them. It’s one that feels like you could really meditate on it and connect on a deeply personal level. I’m sure as a suburban dad I’m not the target audience of this track, neverthless I feel it and appreciate this exceptional artistry.
Abby Carey – “Caroline”
-I always say that songs named after a specific woman’s name are either love songs or breakup songs; there’s no middle ground. Well, this song offers a correction as it’s actually about a friend named Caroline. Nevertheless, one could argue that it’s a love song just in a slightly different packaging. The vocal is solid and the melodic structure has an optimism, a lightness to it that I really appreciate. The expressive vocal expressions show an emotional core of the song that’s sure to resonate with a lot of listeners. For me, it’s a song that begs singing along (especially on the chorus). When the drums hit and create the impassioned “drop” in the song, it really feels like everyone on the stage, the sound guy, the merch girl, and everyone in the audience… we all start to fly. It’s really dramatic in the best way.
