Three new indie rock tracks that you have to put on your weekend playlist!

Powell House – “Don’t Go”
-When I tell people that I like indie rock music, this is the sound I want them to think about. Honestly, everything about this track works for me. The guitars are great, setting down a solid base for the track. The vocal is powerful and emotional without being overly theatrical. The lyrical lines all feel true and authentic, which is about all I can ask for. The line about “pulling away” but “saying the same sweet things” is so disturbingly relatable I don’t even know how to respond. Even the energy, which blends from smooth to gritty in some places is just… exactly how I feel right now in life. The vibes on this track are immaculate and I’m here for it personally.

Del Fidelity – “Algorithm n’ Blues”
-I’ve always been a fan of clever lyrics. I connect it back to spending time with my cousin listening to artists like Weird Al, laughing at the unexpected turns of phrase. Imagine my surprise all these years later connecting with a song called “Algorithm n’ Blues.” The vibe of the track is actually really good too, so it’s not just a novelty of a funny title. The line about making so many mistakes and hoping your partner can still see you, still understand you… wow, that resonates. This is one of those songs that seems like it’s going to be a lot more light hearted than it actually is. There’s a satisfying energy to the guitar riffs and the overall beat of the track on its own, but if you lean into the lyrical content you’ll find it’s a lot more philosophical than the first impression from the title (which, admittedly, is probably the point).

The Tisburys – “A Still Life Without You”
-I appreciate the layered artsy meaning in the title of this track, but overall what I like most about this song is that it feels like its from another time (in the best way possible). We all have that person we know who says “they don’t make music like they used to” and then you play this song for them. Holy wow! Fans of bands like Buffalo Springfield and CSNY will find a lot to like in this layered, harmonic sound from The Tisburys. I appreciate that the sound feels rooted in a true rock sound, while it allows elements like a slide guitar to create some interesting textures. The titular lyric hook “it’s a still life without you” captures an iconic blues sentiment with a clear, relatable, and accessible style. I’m absolutely thrilled to support music of this quality.
