Three indie pop tracks to bring some life to this mid June

Corella – “I Didn’t Know Your Name”
-There’s an 80s vibe to the synth work on this track that took me back in time on first listen. The more I’ve played it, though, I can feel a genuine energy to it. It’s definitely a bit different from the typical pop we feature, but the soaring vocal on the chorus is worth the price of admission alone. The overall vibe is celebratory and engaging. It reminds me of an old 30 Seconds to Mars track that captivated me for like six months straight. This track has those same chops and desirability factors. Spin it!

French Cassettes – “Megabus”
-I don’t like when songs have a spoken word intro, so if I feature one you know it had to be exceptionally good. Let me just tell you that this song is it. The vibes are immaculate with this one. It’s about seeking love while getting drunk on a Megabus. That’s it. That’s the message. But it has this kind of mid 70s folk rock energy that works really well. The quality of the lead vocal sits right in the pocket with the rhythm section well. The understated vocal harmony gives it a to of texture and depth. If you’re a fan of outfits like the Avett Brothers, definitely check out this song.

Muo Duo – “20th Century Girl”
-Everything from the chill groove to the understated production makes this song resonate. I appreciate the style of the muted horns in setting the mood. The lyrical content is about contemporary life, “she’s running out of time to live her life.” It’s about living a hard life and having to cope with unrealized dreams (among other things). All told, it’s a chill groove definitely worth your consideration.
