Three acoustic folk tracks to bring a little joy this late April

Laura Lucas – “When the Fire Started”
-If you’re a fan of acoustic folk music, there’s a lot to like about this new song from Laura Lucas. The vocal harmonies are magical from the very start. It’s a love song with a gentle and accessible intimacy. It’s a sound that’s sure to appeal to a wide variety of our audience as it is comparable to artists we’ve featured in the past like the Native Sibling or Ocie Elliott. We’re happy to support this type of promising new folk music.

Amble – “Of Land and Sea”
-There’s something about a song that opens with fingerpicking that pulls me in right away. Now add in a vocal style that sounds like a delicate blend of Beta Radio and Jeffrey Martin — yep, it’s easy to hear why I’m so captivated by this sound. The lyrical style is poetic and engaging, with lyrics about searching for a lost love. The phrasing, the pacing, and the overall energy of the performance is really well done. If you’re a fan of sincere, poetic lyricism and quality folk songwriting, definitely give this new track by Amble a listen. It’s excellent.

John Wheeler – “Let Me Lie”
-From the first time I clicked play on this song, I felt like I was stepping back in time. If you’re a fan of Justin Townes Earle, definitely give John Wheeler a spin. There’s a depth and sincerity to the recording that gives it that timeless classic style that Earle had in his music. The harmonics on the acoustic strings resonating combined with the impassioned, personal lyrics makes for a great sound overall. The only other artist I’ve heard like this in years was Joshua James. Wheeler is in great company with an exceptional folk acoustic style and a timeless energy that we’re happy to support.
