Three new acoustic folk singer songwriters for your springtime playlist

Theo Kandel – “Lunch”
-Theo Kandel is one of those artists who has entered into the “almost automatic yes” category. It’s easy to hear why when you click play on this song. It’s clear, engaging, and has a mood that makes the listener instantly feel at peace. The nostalgic lyrics remind me of a few important people in my own life. The subtle atmospheric elements do a great job of allowing Kandel’s relatable lyrics to resonate beautifully. I love everything about this song, honestly.

Alex Blue – “There’s Always Something”
-The acoustic guitar work on this song is good, but the vocal is gorgeous. The combination of the two creates a delicious alchemy, creating a sound that is sure to win over a lot of fans from our site. The expressive songwriting has lyrical imagery about the beauty of daily life. It’s the kind of song that cultivates gratitude in the midst of ordinary moments, being thankful for the way life turns around us. Stick around for the ending as it’s a powerful, emotional song.

JJ Sterry – “Another Man”
-I’ve always been a sucker for a good whistle solo, but when you couple it with a gritty expressive lead vocal and you’re sure to get a “yes.” The acoustic guitar provides the base here, but it’s the vocal that wins this one for me. “I guess I don’t believe in heroes anymore. You’re just another man from another time.” Wow. I can only imagine the layers of meaning behind this one, but it feels definitively personal. The whole composition has a weight to it that’s hard to explain; you just have to feel it. With one listen, you will feel it. Sterry has a promising, emerging folk talent. We’re glad to have found this one.
