Three different takes on the “rock” genre in the 21st century

Broken Colours – “Not Giving In”
-Take a nice mix of different instruments and kick the tempo right in the hind end… that’s what you get with “Not Giving In” by Broken Colours. The syncopation gives the track a forward momentum. The vocal has that perfect early 90s pop rock inflection that works well with the unique horns-meet-guitars poppy rock instrumentation. It’s a song that feels like it knows how to have a good time… to keep moving in the right direction. “In all this madness, just stand strong.” Amen to that.

Lunde – “Tomorrow”
-From the opening of the track there’s a distinctive identity. It feels like it’s got a production layer that makes the vocal feel like it’s in a different place than the instrumentation, but somehow there’s a warmth between the two layers. The overall style of the track feels positive and vibey. Lunde have a sound that seemingly brings together late 20th century pop folk elements like the Head and the Heart with some alt rock and even electronic elements. The end result is a sound unlike anything you’ve ever heard before… in an absolutely delightful way.

Kensuke Sudo – “The Way It Is”
-Is this a Beatles deep cut? No, it’s not. Does it sound like it could be? Absolutely. This new track from Kensuke Sudo, a Japanese singer songwriter, brings together all the things we love about classic Beatles records. The energy of the song is upbeat and positive, all while including layered vocals to mimic the great sounds of the Fab Four. The layered orchestral elements even feel like they could have come from the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine era. This is a really great new tune by a promising songwriter.
