Three unique alt pop tunes that will bring energy this late November

Lyncs – “Dancing on the Freeway”
-I’ve covered Lyncs a few times in the past, so when I saw this artist name submission I was excited to hear the new track. There’s a pop energy to the track that absolutely begs to dance while listening. The effect on the vocal allows the quality to shine through. The lyrical message is clear with a memorable hook about missing someone “all my life.” It’s ultimately a song about keeping a promise in a relationship even after the other person is gone. The danceable energy creates an engaging juxtaposition with the sadness of the lyrics.

Lou Emery – “Fools”
-The driving rhythm of this track invites the listener to bob along with the beat. The percussive energy is a definitive aspect of the song, providing a solid base for the unique vocal style over the top. The main melody has shades of pop, blues, and rock all mixed together for a fun, energetic style. Emery’s vocal chops are evident from the start. Evoking comparisons with artists like Pink and Gwen Stefani, Lou Emery brings a believable and engaging emotionalism to the music. This one is definitely for fans of alt rock music who are looking for a new voice from a rising star.

SUNNN – “Just Pretend”
-If I didn’t receive this submission recently, I could easily be convinced that it’s a deep cut from a late 60s or early 70s folk rock band. The production is excellent, mimicking some of the classic rock forms that defined the mid-20th century. I love the harmonies, of course, but the whole production style is outstanding. Fans of the Beach Boys as well as later 70s harmony bands like Eagles will find a lot to like about this sound. To be honest, even considering the excellent harmonies, the guitar solo on the break might be the highlight of the whole song. This one is such an infectious sound! It’s a hit in the same way that the Wonders! “That Thing You Do” was a hit in the 90s. It’s the best of the past with a fresh new take.
