Featuring a pair of alt country tunes that will make you throw out your radio and all contemporary country music

Weepin’ Dave and the Diamond Boys – “She’ll Never Settle”
-If you’re a fan of honky tonk country music, you’ve come to the right place. This track rips! The guitars are really clean, reminding me of a bygone era of country music from the mid-20th century. The lead vocal has an appropriate amount of enthusiasm for a lost love. The main line about it being hard to love someone who doesn’t love themselves at all is vintage country; it holds a grain of truth while having a clever ring. It’s a great tune.

Jack Francis – “Tired of Trying”
-From the first time I played this track, I couldn’t help but think of a comparison to the indie rock outfit Dawes. But the more I listen, the more I feel the alt country vibes of the track. Francis sings with a sense of bluesy energy and a conviction about the way things are. It’s a celebratory sad song, much in the vein of the late Jimmy Buffet. This song is ultimately about humility, “am I man enough for you now?” It’s got a nice groove and lyrics that will really make you think. It’s got shades of a variety of alt country music with great guitars, a quality vocal, and excellent production. Give it a spin!
