Mild Goose Chase – “Tennessee”
-The art of phrasing is hard to put into words. For an artist, it’s not just about what you say but how you say it. Mild Goose Chase has perfect phrasing and articulation on this song. It’s a nice combination of styles from two artists I really enjoy from the Milk Carton Kids to the Water Liars. You can feel a real sense of emotion and connection here. I would venture to guess these fellas have spent some time with the Milk Carton Kids’ music (and I mean that as a sincere compliment). This track brings together past and present in an artful, engaging style of modern Americana.
Katelyn Ingardia – “Getaway”
-This is a love song with shades of early Nickel Creek. If you’re a fan of pop-flavored bluegrass music, you’ll find a lot to like on this one. Ingardia has a bit of a Sara Watkins style to her vocal as well. The overall performance here is incredible. The vocals, string work, and overall production are excellent. It’s hard to find bluegrass that captures the heart and spirit of the genre, while making it feel contemporary and relevant to our world today. This song captures that connection of past and present with a seamless continuity. It’s a great tune!
The Walter Brothers – “Looking inside”
-There’s a nice optimistic bounce to this track. It has a happy sense of momentum to it. The guitar and rhythm is good, but the vocal harmonies are really nice. If you’ve reached a point in life when you are happy with where you are, this song will resonate. It’s got a nice older style “country” sing along style about it. A lot of our readers who enjoy traditional music will enjoy singing with this one.
