Jonah Kagan – “18”
-Prepare for a nostalgic trip with this track. Even if you didn’t live an exact parallel to Kagan’s experience, there’s so much that is relatable in this song. The vocal is absolutely special. The overall lyrical message is relatable, engaging, and achingly romantic. This is an incredible song about heartache and the feeling of what could have been romantically. “Oh I’d do it all again.” There are a lot of feelings here and it absolutely works in this format.
Taylor Burlage – “Down from the mountain”
-If you’re a fan of acoustic guitar work, there’s a lot to like from this incredible piece of songwriting from Taylor Burlage. The fingerpicking is enough to support the song, but as it unfolds the track continues to add elements that listeners can appreciate. The vocal has an authenticity and raspiness that works really well. Oh yeah, and the first line is about coming down from the mountain looking for something to kill. It’s hard hitting lyrically with cathartic, beautiful instrumentation. This is a masterful folk track.
Will McCartt – “the space we’re in”
-The atmospheric style of this track is sure to win over some listeners right away. The energy is so good it invites the listener to cuddle up with this one. It cultivates an attitude of gratitude and being present that I genuinely appreciate. The cool atmospheric acoustic works really well with the gentle sincerity of the vocal. The poetic lyrics express a sense of being present where you are. While it is brief, it’s a meaningful reflection well worth a listen.
