Three engaging indie pop tracks that will take your imagination to another place

FloraNova – “Joyride”
-This is a groove. It’s so good. FloraNova have produced a chilled out pop track with just the right amount of atmospheric use of space. The groove keeps it moving while the lush instrumentation in the background keeps the track swirling with good feelings. Even the whistling in the breaks feels just right. It’s ostensibly a song about getting caught up in emotions for someone. “Tell me all your secrets you can stay here for the night.” I’m… not entirely sure what this is about, but… I mean… use your imagination. It’s a great tune.

Dandelion Head – “Love on your side”
-With it being springtime here, dandelions are definitely a part of our lives. I wasn’t quite expecting a groovy pop rock track from a band named after dandelions, but I’m so glad we received this track. The cool energy of the track is unhurried while percussion in the background keeps it moving. The lyrics are contemplative while the electronic melodic instrument (keys or synth?) give it a dreamy sensibility. The overall feeling of the track defies genre but has a wonderfully enjoyable mood to it. I definitely plan on including this in our indie pop playlist to enjoy for a long, long time.

Louie Rubio – “Heart of gold”
-To be honest, I think the best comp for this song is something from Bruno Mars. You might be thinking that doesn’t seem like a fit for our mostly folk website, but trust me this song deserves widespread support. It’s an absolute bop. The groove has shades of disco dance beats blending with elements of classic soul music. More than anything though, the song demands that the listener just meld into the music. While some songs we feature have a more cerebral and contemplative side, this track is all about the feeling you get when you listen to it. And hey, if it makes you want to dance all the better.
