Three singer songwriters with thoughtful music to satisfy your soul

Mandi Mapes – “Daffodil flowers”
-This is a magical song. The piano has a whimsical feeling to it that is quite enjoyable. Mapes writes with a depth and sincerity in the lyrics that balances really nicely with the whimsy of the piano work. The combination makes the listener feel light and floating, but not bouncy. If you’re a fan of thoughtful songwriting with a folksy pop sensibility, this is a great tune. Mapes has a beautiful voice that makes the engaging songwriting come to life.

Noa Zimmerman – “Portland”
-The calm acoustic style of this track appealed to me on first listen. The more I’ve listened to it, the more engaging I find it. The lyrics are thoughtful, pulling the listener into the storyline. The subtle vocal harmonies make for a delicate, exquisite performance. It’s got a romantic sensibility to it. The full composition brings together a heartfelt sentiment with a believable, expressive vocal. It’s a hidden gem for fans of singer songwriters.

Hannah Scott – “Into your grief”
-The calm piano work on this track invites the listener into a conversational song. It’s like sitting down with a friend to listen to a sweet, gentle bit of therapy. If you’ve ever had this kind of cathartic connection with a dear friend, you just might cry listening to this song. It’s a highlight of deep human connection. I’m not sure I can really do this song justice in my explanation, but it’s really impressive how it can make such an emotional statement with what feels like minimal production. The piano and voice are sincere; they are enough. The song opens up the opportunity for connection while also exuding a sort of empathetic, open-ended love. I greatly admire someone who can feel such openness and warmth, let alone someone able to capture it in song. This is a remarkable piece of songwriting that transcends typical pop singer songwriter fare and moves into something closer to healing.
