William Torp – “still u’re all im thinking about”
-If you’ve ever been in love… and I mean really in love… you’ll be able to relate to the lyrics on this song. It becomes almost obsessive the way that you can’t seem to think about anyone or anything else, especially when it ends and the breakup is one sided. The easy going folk rock vibes here remind me of classics of the genre like Tom Petty. The chilled out groove is perfect for the energy of the lyrics as well. Torp’s vocal comes across with ease, a fitting connection between the folk rock instrumentation and the relatable lyrics.
The Blue Winter – “I don’t wanna be sad anymore”
-Fans of pop rock will find a lot to like about this track from The Blue Winter. It definitely has some folk rock energy as well, especially at the beginning. The lyrics pull the listener in well. The lead vocal reminds me a little of Sleeping at Last. The feel good vibes are palpable. It feels like the lyrics are trying to will the message of the song to be optimistic even when life feels overwhelming and negative. I dig that so much. The vibes on this track are consistent from start to finish and we’re happy to support it.
West Texas Exiles – “Hotel Tomorrow”
-Call it Americana or folk rock… honestly the genre name doesn’t even matter on this one because it’s just a darn good tune. I like everything about this song from the guitars, chord progression, vocal blending, and definitely lyrics. It’s a bit of an everyman anthem about how you can never really go home and life is a lot about wandering around to find ourselves. The key lyric turns on the fact that we make a lot of our own trouble and… well… I wish I could disagree with that. It’s a profound philosophical reflection in the sheep’s clothing of an easy-to-listen folk rock song. Listen, enjoy, and share widely.
