The Artisanals – “The Road”
-There’s an easy going folksy rock energy to this track that really caught my attention. The opening is good, don’t get me wrong, but the first chorus definitely is my favorite part. It’s about taking a journey, a road, but it’s also about how that has meaning being with someone. The lyrics are very reminiscent of the classic easy going rock of the 70s in the vein of the Eagles. If you’re looking for that kind of folksy rock music with vibrant and expressive harmonies, definitely give this track a spin.
Leeroy Stagger – “More love than money”
-If you’re looking for a classic sound with a bluesy core and a spirited production style, give Leeroy Stagger a spin. The track’s central message is a bit more relatable than I care to admit personally. It’s got the blues man’s mindset, “got more love than money but that’s enough to keep us on track.” It’s a beautiful sentiment and is sure to win over a lot of fans among the folks who read this site… most of whom have more love than money!
Amand Maruud and Lucky Lips – “Wolves”
-The first band that popped into my mind when I heard this song was Needtobreathe. There’s a sense of rising energy in the opening where even on first listen you can tell it’s growing. The guitars provide a sense of anticipation and the vocal harmonies are really well done. The phrase “keep the wolves at bay” is the central lyrical concept that pulls the whole song together. Fans of folksy, bluesy, even country-flavored rock n’ roll will find a lot to like with the soaring vocals and overall vibe of this track. It’s ultimately about survival and we can all use an inspiring song about survival right now.
