Three pop-influenced singer songwriters who deserve top-40 acclaim

Rosie – “Social Stamina”
-“Now I don’t know who I am. How did I turn into a person I can’t stand?” Wow, I didn’t expect to click on a “pop” style artist and be hit with such a powerful, meaningful lyric. The rest of the track develops this key idea with some deeper explanation. Once the listener gets to the chorus with its amazing, atmospheric vocals, there’s truly something transcendent about the composition. This is the kind of music I’d love to have my playing in my home as an example of what pop can and should be. The vocal layering is stunning.

OSKA – “Star struck”
-If you’re looking for an atmospheric guitar style that roots this “pop” tinged song with a bit of a folk spirit, check out OSKA’s latest “Star struck.” It’s about the cliche phrase of being “star struck” by seeing someone. But what’s cool about the song is that OSKA applies this sentiment to someone beyond that initial meeting. The beat keeps it moving, the lead vocal is quality, and the sentiment is relatable. The mix is envigorating without overwhelming the listener. This is easily listenable music with a simple yet engaging concept. HIT POTENTIAL!

The Branches – “Split”
-If you’re a fan of synthesizers and pop vocal harmonies, definitely put The Branches on your playlist. It’s a really magical and exciting sound. It’s about a breakup “stumbling around with my broken heart” but instead of hanging their head like a blues song, it’s a celebratory energy. That expression of pain through exuberant joyful sounds is really fascinating. It’s definitely got the “crank it up and sing with the girls on a night out” kind of energy rather than the sulk in your room and eat ice cream energy. I think the vibes will be relatable to a lot of folks and this deserves to be considered for much wider distribution.
