Joel D’Aubin – “Come Home”
-This is a song about hard work and dedication. The instrumentation is a bit more chill than the Americana we’ve been curating lately, but I really liked the vocal harmonies here. There’s a whole atmospheric vibe about the song that makes it resonate. The lyrics are encouraging and supportive, which we are definitely happy to support here. If you have someone to be blessed to “come home” to, this song will feel good. It sure does for me.
Kiefer Luttrell – “Every Shade of Blue”
-If you like old fashioned folk music in the vein of Woody Guthrie or even later artists like Blaze Foley, give this song a spin. There’s a nice use of everyday imagery in the way the Luttrell writes. It’s got some familiar stylings while also being wholly original lyrically. There’s something about the swinging rhythm and twangy guitar that makes the song feel like a perfect blend of the past and present. Give this one a spin if you like more of an old fashioned Americana vibe.
The Ballroom Thieves – “Everything Is Everything”
-There’s a cool energy to this track that makes it feel like it doesn’t want to be put into a genre box and I’m ALL about it. The lead vocal definitely works and should be familiar to readers of our site as we’ve featured The Ballroom Thieves in the past. This song certainly fits within that beautiful musical legacy that this folk group is putting together. I like the verses, but I love the subtle harmonies on the chorus. I pretty much accepted the song within seconds, but once I hit the chorus I really started to swoon. Something about the lead vocal reminds me of Emily Frantz (Watchhouse) and I am absolutely HERE for it. This is a track for the folksy Americana fans, for sure.
