Amateur Hour – “I need you”
-The easy comparison here is probably a cross between the Beatles and Queen, you know… two of the most successful rock bands of all time. I love the vibes on this track. The production is amazing. The vocal harmonies are great. The lyrics are a bit on the simple side, but that just works to make them all the more relatable. If you’ve ever been absolutely crazy about someone (especially, I would venture to guess, in your younger years) then you’ll relate to this song. The operatic vocal harmonies on this track are quite reminiscent of Queen and are really satisfying.
Little Dume – “Ocean”
-When I tell people I like indie rock, this is the sound I’m trying to explain. The guitars have a lot of character, yet are clear and make a good mood. The vocal is easy to follow, all while holding a lot of energy. The percussive style keeps the track moving while the production creates this sense of depth and space as well. The overall production sounds good, feels good, and has an energy that captures a contemporary rock sound while holding to the tenets of rock n’ roll music. It is reminiscent of the past while feeling like a fresh take on an old sound.
Jamie Valley – “Piano song”
-There’s a coolness to this song that I can’t even comprehend or explain, let alone personally relate to. The soulful vibe from both the rhythm and the saxophone make for something totally unlike what we usually cover when it comes to rock… but it works! The piano, of course, is excellent on this track. Fans of smooth mid-20th century rock music will find a lot to like on this track. If you like your rock with a healthy dose of modern jazz influence, throw this track on and spin it. I bet you’ll not be able to sit still; it’s a track made for dancing!
