Three indie rock tracks to bring some energy to your playlist

Pigeon Wigs – “Near the Knuckle”
-The intensity of this track is unparalleled in the indie rock I’ve heard recently. It’s an energetic, snappy rock jam ostensibly with some lustful overtones. No matter the meaning, it’s certainly got an earthy sentiment rooted in the mix on the guitars. Every expressive lick from guitars seems like a statement in its own right. Despite the pessimistic lyric predicting that the woman will leave the main character, there’s a celebratory energy about essentially making the most of the situation while it lasts. I wouldn’t recommend putting this one on your family playlist, but it sure is a banger for your college rock playlist.

Hollow Hill – “Tube sock”
-The driving rhythm of this track stood out for me on first listen. Once I got to the great vocal blending on the chorus, I was hooked. (wink) It’s definitely the kind of rock that puts a smile on your face. It feels like it would be a really energetic live show to see Hollow Hill. The production is really well balanced on this track, allowing the listener to feel a part of the performance. This is a high energy, feel good rock jam.

Lost in Japan – “Red line”
-When you click play on this track from Lost in Japan, you’re going to be hit with an intense rock sound that’s probably going to make you a fan instantly. The production is crispy, the vocals quality, and the overall performance is a picture of 21st century indie rock magic. There are layers of electric guitars and electronic effects that are knitted together for a powerful sound. In addition, the production is so good that you can actually hear the lyrics as well. This is a song about perseverance. Give it a spin and throw it on your rock list; you’ll dig it.
