Three new Americana tracks that will put you in that timeless headspace

Heavy Diamond Ring ft. Gregory Alan Isakov – “Take Whatever You Need”
-It’s not every day that we get a submission featuring an icon like Gregory Alan Isakov, but here we did. It’s easy to hear why Isakov agreed to be a part of this project as it sounds incredible. It’s quintessential Americana folk music, with a lovely piano and easy going rhythm section. The lead vocal is the gem of the recording, which allows the poetic lyrics to gently guide the song. I particularly love the vocal harmonies that bring a warmth and comfort to the track. The lyrics are timeless and engaging, making me want to listen over and over. In fact, I think I will. What a gem.

Blind Horse Canyon – “Cowboy”
-I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover or a musician by their band name, but I have to be honest I was excited to hear someone with the audacity to name their Americana act “Blind Horse Canyon.” What a name! And they absolutely live up to it! This track “Cowboy” has a rolling guitar element befitting the song’s title. I mean, it’s a letter to “mama,” but… uhm… it’s not his mother, so to speak. Nevertheless, what a charming and unexpectedly sultry little tune. The rolling guitar work reminds me a bit of the Bob Wills western swing style. In fact, I even heard a little “a-ha!” on the second chorus that’s right out of those old timey artists like Wills and Hank Williams. This is such an absolute delight of a throwback tune!

Drop Dead Puppies – “Lies”
-This song has a chill blues rock energy to it that moves along nicely. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to kick back and relax. The theme of “letting you go” and then seeing the person come back is a true to life commentary. The title of the track comes from that say person telling lies when they come crawling back. The vocal is solid, the guitars are saucy, and the whole composition feels like vintage blues rock.
