Introducing a pair of new ROCK tracks that will have your jaw dropping on first listen

Preen – “No Surprise”
-Look, I’ll be honest I get real picky here near the end of the year. I am ready to get to the end of year lists and turn over a new leaf. But… sometimes a song like this comes along that absolutely stops me in my tracks. Preen have this sound that feels like it’s from another era… heck, another WORLD. I love the style here that puts me in mind of some of the best of 70s rock with this modern polish that stands out from the crowd. There’s something musically happening with the guitar in the background that mesmerizes me like a Beatles tune and I’m absolutely thrilled to support it. The vocals, the lyrics, the vibes… it’s all there. This is wonderful new rock that will have you reminiscing about the good old days. Share it with someone because I’m SURE it made you think of someone.

Ojahara – “You Should Have Asked Her”
-This track might set the new record for fastest turnaround time for me as a curator. I just processed it about 2 hours ago and here I am covering it; it’s easy to hear why I pushed it to the top of the pile. This sound is intricate, delicate, and pairs really well with other vintage rock sounds. There’s something about the piano work on this track that feels almost hypnotic. I’m a huge fan of the way the song has an almost Dodie Clark-style delicateness in some sections, while growing into more of a Fleetwood Mac style in other section; the combination feels like musical theater meets the best of 70s adult contemporary and rock music. It’s a sound that feels comfortable, sophisticated, and endlessly replayable. Give it a spin, my friends. PS – Stick around for the bluesy rock break in the second half… it’s outstanding!
