Three indie pop rock tracks that you’ll want to have for your weekend party playlist

Red Light Camera – “Right Your Wrong”
-There’s a ton of energy in this track that you’ll catch right away. I appreciate the quality of the guitars and the vocals. It’s actually kind of challenging to categorize this sound other than to say indie rock. The guitars have a glowing energy to them that makes them feel more “pop” than other rock, but to me that’s not a knock at all. It’s got a nice, fully production style that makes the sound feel like you want to turn it up and maybe even dance a little. The “you can take or leave it… you can right your wrong” on the chorus absolutely begs for listeners to sing along.

Freedom Candlemaker – “April”
-Ok I’m going to make a comparison here that feels almost sacrilegious, but just… bear with me. Think of Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai… you know that snazzy pop sound that had a combination of soul and funk, smooth and endearing? Yeah, that, but with a dash of rock. That’s what Freedom Candlemaker brings on this new song “April,” a bit of a love song and confessional that resonates in some personal, expressive ways. Something about the loose guitar highlights in the background and the sincerity of the vocal makes for a balanced sound that feels both intimate and inspiring. Give it a spin. It’s well worth your consideration for fans of pop rock that leans more toward a late-20th century pop flavor.

The Bandits – “Something Dumb”
-If you’re looking for a snazzy pop sound with some cool guitars in the background and a quality lead vocal, give this one a click. There are elements that remind me a bit of 60s pop (which seem intentional both in melody and rhythm). It’s almost bubble gum pop in terms of how the melody is structured, but the overall production feels more in line with snappy 21st century pop rock. The combination of the two results in a sound that has nostalgic tingly feelings all while invoking an inspired forward momentum that parallels the desire expressed in the lyrics. This is a song about knowing a relationship isn’t right, but you want to do “something dumb” and go for it anyways.
