Kurt Lee Wheeler – “Faces – Grass Version”
-There’s a nice rolling string style on this track that emerges from first listen. The vocals are consistent with classic bluegrass sounds. I appreciate the even-handed style here; it moves along nicely. It’s a song about keeping on running, so I guess it makes sense that the momentum is so easy and sincere. The whole track feels like a comfortable escape, as all good bluegrass ought to do. In some ways, I would say this sound is right between old school bluegrass with traditional stylings and “newgrass.” It honestly has elements of both, resulting in a nice familiar and comforting style.
