A pair of fascinating indie and alt pop tunes that you’ll want to share with friends

ARK IDENTITY – “Atmosphere”
-Sometimes, I choose a song because the production is so high quality that I feel like I have to say yes. And this is one of those songs. Don’t get me wrong; I like the harmonies, the melody, and the overall indie pop vibe. I do. But what really gave me that “wow” factor was the production. The color balance between the instrumentation and vocal is perfect. The chord structure feels satisfying and the bass thumps just enough to catch your attention, without being overbearing. This is the kind of music that you can put on at a party or sit and listen closely. It’s about a failed connection due to being “hard to reach,” which is ironic with a song that is so widely accessible for listeners.

Skyler Day – “Heartcrusher”
-I’ve been supporting indie pop artists for a long time, but it can be a challenging genre to break out in. Skyler Day has that magical factor in the opening of this song with punctuated lines, clear messages, and a powerful vocal. I always make the comp with artists like Dodie Clark and Orla Gartland, but I really do think it’s warranted here. The visceral heartache in the opening section of the song is literally a work of art. I’m super happy to be supporting an artist of this caliber on our site. I look forward to watching Skyler’s rise through the musical ranks.
