Chloe Southern – “This Time Last Year”
-When I tell people I like indie pop music, this is the kind of style that I mean. It’s hard to explain what makes it so good, but I resonate with the rhythm, the syrupy production style on the instrumentation, and of course the quality of the vocal. It’s got an excellent energy that just makes you want to sit in the room where it’s being made… the room where it happens. The lyrical concept is relatable if you’ve ever been through a breakup. There’s a lot of vibey energy here that’s sure to find a following from our indie pop readership.
Allison Leah – “Meet Me in the Garden”
-It’s interesting to me how a song can be sensual without being explicit in the least. This is one of those songs that is filled with romance and energy that is sure to stand out for a lot of listeners. The up tempo indie pop vibe reminds me a bit of Maggie Rogers. The lyric “your touch is healing me” is beautiful and cathartic. I’m not sure if the imagery is intentional, but the commentary about “the garden” even seems to have some spiritual overtones as well. No matter how you take it, there’s an accessible sweetness to the song that made it an immediate “yes” for me and I’m happy to share it here.
Noak Hellsing – “Good News”
-If you’re looking for a song with a ton of danceable energy, check out this track from Noak Hellsing. It’s got a great beat and a ton of dynamic energy. It has elements of pop, dance, and soul that work really well together. It’s the type of music that feels like it combines classic Michael Jackson with more recent Bruno Mars… and a whole lot of great stuff in between. The layered vocals on the chorus really make it pop. I appreciate how the song transcends genre and is just a ton of fun to listen (and move) to. Give it a spin and share with your friends.
