Check out a pair of alt country tunes to kick your week off right

Nathan Evans Fox – “Landlords, Bill Lee, etc.”
-If you’re a fan of classic storytelling country music, give this track a spin. Every lyric in this song is carefully placed. If you’ve ever been genuinely mad at someone, you’ll relate to the songwriting here. The line about “hillbilly karma” is amazing. If you’ve ever heard someone say “bless your heart” to you, trust me you are not actually being “blessed.” This song has a lot of phrases that not everyone will get, but if you get them… you’ve probably lived a pretty hard life, too. It’s great songwriting and a sentiment that is far too relatable for many of us.

Rocco! – “Arm”
-This is my second time featuring Rocco! and it’s easy to hear why I said “yes” again. There are elements of classic country music here, but there’s also a genuine core of sentimentality that works well. The genuineness in the vocal delivery feels just right. I’m not sure about the folk/country divide on this track, but frankly, I don’t care. I like it. Rocco! writes these emotionally expressive lines that feel like they could have come from Jason Isbell’s writing room (yes, I know how high that praise is). Honestly, I love that Rocco! has this sort of understated Brandi Carlile thing going on… and I’m here to support the rise to fame!
