Daniel Fiamengo – “The Edge of Life”
-This is a remarkable piece of songwriting that brings together jazz, funky, and an energy that you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere else. Fiamengo’s lyrical message encourages us to stop being afraid to live; it’s a call to boldness and reality. The horns are unconventional, putting listeners in mind of the jazzy stylings of throwback artists like Earth, Wind, and Fire. The jazz fusion work is beyond my expertise (by a long shot), but it will take your mind on a real adventure. The surrealistic elements are outrageous in a good way, but the rhythm section keeps us grounded through the whole track. This is an adventurous sound and message that I’m glad I’m alive to experience.
