Featured Single: Slacker Rock “5 am” by ghost prom

ghost prom – “5 am”
-If you’ve been following my writing for any length of time, you’ll know that “slacker rock” isn’t really in my vernacular. But when I heard “5 am” by ghost prom, I felt a connection with the mood of the track. There’s something about the understated energy of the song that connects with the mood of middle age, I guess. But beyond that, I appreciate the chromatic melodic structure and the subtle harmonies; even though it’s got a tinge of grunginess to it, there’s a good core rock song underneath it all. I don’t know that it’s a sound for all rock fans, but those who like more of an enigmatic flavor are going to appreciate the nuances of the ghost prom sound.
