N. Kerbin – “Dream of Me”
-The atmospheric quality of this song appeals immediately. The effect on Kerbin’s vocal makes it resonate well throughout the track. If you’ve ever dreamt of a friend, especially a romantic friend, this song will definitely connect. The “dream with me” vocal blending on the chorus is absolutely gorgeous. This is a brilliant piece of songwriting that might seem simple at first, but has layers of beautiful nuance to make it stand out from the crowd. This is exactly the kind of folk we like to feature here on ETTG.
Ocie Elliott – “Free”
-The chill acoustic style here is characteristic of Ocie Elliott, a duo we’ve covered in the past. The vocal quality on this song is really great, with two vocalists who have sung together a lot. The blending is evident right away. The lyrics have a nice easy going sense about them. It’s definitely a fun track that shows the lightness of modern folk songwriting done well.
Wolftrap – “little house in the woods”
-This is a song about love enduring. I’m a fan. Lyrically, it just works. The vocal harmonies are amazing and the guitar work is cathartic. The whole composition feels like you’ve maybe heard it before, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. There are elements of classic folk, contemporary folk, and a fresh style that reminds me of Fleet Foxes. If you have a love in your life that’s worth celebrating, definitely give this track a spin. It’s such a beautiful, inspiring piece of artwork.
