Three captivating singer songwriters that will move you to emotions this summer

Eliza Elliott – “Are you ever?”
-The first thirty seconds of this track FLOORED me from first listen and get me every time. Elliott sings, “Tell me someone’s holding holding you because I can’t bear the thought that you are lonely.” Wow. Imagine the emotional place that fueled a line like that. Incredible stuff. That’s Hank Williams levels of heartache right there. Except this sound is a lot more Dodie Clark, Lizzy McAlpine, or Phoebe Bridgers. The production style of this track fits in the alt pop realm, but the core of the song is certainly singer songwriter. Elliott asks, “are you ever going to let her find the right way to be close to you?” Incredible writing and excellent execution, Eliza Elliott has given us an emotional gift that many of us will connect with in a deeply personal way.

Gercoh – “From the Otherside”
-The violin on this song really sets it apart from the crowd right away. The lead vocal carries an emotional weight throughout the track. The lyrics do a nice job of ushering in the emotional core of the track. The overall production ends up being something that fans of chamber folk music are really going to enjoy. The contemplative-yet-longing sense of the violin on this track really spoke to me from first listen and I hope others will connect with it as I did.

Jon Hayes – “Between You and Me”
-First of all, can we just talk about the quality of Hayes’ vocal? Because he’s great. It’s just the right amount of rasp. Second, let’s talk about the patience evident in this song. It really develops with a slow, methodical, intentional style. The acoustic guitar riff at the core of the melody does a great job of introducing the lyrical theme. It’s contemplative to the point of being almost confessional. There’s a spirituality to the track that definitely resonates with me. The authenticity drips from this track.
